“Have you stopped going your own way? This was what we were asking ourselves today as we made our way through the general assembly, rotation stations and even at our closing assembly. Our road sign was a big red STOP which is the same color as blood. Our kids were reminded that Jesus died (gave his life) in our place for our sin and that we must stop going our own wrong way, doing what we think is right and trust Jesus to save us. Some even heard this for the every first time!
In today’s Bible time Paul, who was going the wrong way, was stopped by Jesus. God loved Paul even while he was still sinning, enough to stop him and let him know that He is the Lord and that hurting His people is the same as hurting Him.
In our small group time we learned that Jesus told other about God’s love, did miracles which proved who He was and what He said and that He died for sinners. While watching a cartoon about Jesus’ trial and crucifixion one sweet 1st grader said… “I wish Jesus didn’t need to die.”, which is probably what we all felt like saying. One of our dear volunteers was even in tears after watching the video but this allowed us to discuss God’s love for us and our memory verse for the day,
“But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Our beloved Crossing Guard Lucy was confronted by the superintendent who found out that she lost her crossing guard shield. He explained to her that without the shield she has no authority and would have until Friday to find it or she would have to turn in her vest.
Day 2 has come and gone but the memories will last. Please pray that God would grant rest to our volunteers and that He would give these children understanding even as He does with us adults.
To God be the glory.
